Matcha Tea

Shade grown in Japan, Matcha is high in caffeine with an intense umami flavour profile.  The young leaves are picked by hand and quickly steamed to preserve their nutrients and vibrant green colour.  After drying, the leaves are sorted and the mid-rib and veins removed.  The leaf of premium matcha is stone-ground into a fine powder, in a centuries old tradition. 

Matcha is truly a special tea – the first harvest of the year produces the highest grade – Ceremonial Matcha.
