Our classic Earl Grey, with carefully selected Chinese black teas richly scented with bergamot oil to give this perennial favourite its unique taste and distinct aroma.

Earl Grey is a light brew and can be drunk at any time of day.

You may be among the many who choose it as their perfect afternoon tea - with or without a slice of cake, or two!

There are many claims to the origin of the name of this famous tea. Our favourite is that it is eponymously named after Charles Grey, 2nd Earl Grey, British Prime Minister in the 1830s who, it is claimed, received a gift of tea flavoured with bergamot oil from a grateful Chinese mandarin. The fact that bergamot was unknown in China at the time is overlooked.

In time, Earl Grey's blend became popular with all sections of British society and is famous worldwide as one of Britain's most popular blends.

The country’s vast landscape ensures a variety of flavours, from delicate, floral flavours to bold and distinguished flavours.
